The 7/17, 7/17D and 7/17W underwater acoustic modems and USBL transceivers are a family of depth-rated devices for long-range transmissions, providing data transfer rates up to 6.9 kbit/s over a 8000 m range (10000 m for 7/17D).
All 3 versions are acoustically compatible with each other and differ in their beam patterns.
Depth ratings and operating frequency ensure reliable performance for long-range transmissions between the seafloor and the surface.
The applications include:
Long-range operations in deep waters
Data link and positioning for deep-sea AUVs and ROVs
Underwater acoustic sensor networks
7/17, 7/17D and 7/17W models are available in the following product lines:
S2C R - highly configurable standard build, optionally as OEM without housing
S2C R USBL - highly configurable build with integrated USBL antenna for positioning, optionally as OEM
The 7/17 underwater acoustic modems and USBL transceivers feature a hemispherical transducer beam pattern.
Its wide-area coverage is optimal for vertical and slant transfers to/from stationary systems. The operating range of 8000 m can be exceeded in favorable subsea conditions.
The 7/17D underwater acoustic modems and USBL transceivers feature a directional (80 degrees) transducer beam pattern that allows to achieve greater operating ranges (10000 m) for vertical transfers.
7/17D devices with titanium housing option are depth-rated for 10000 m.
The 7/17W underwater acoustic modems and USBL transceivers feature a hemispherical transducer beam pattern, optimal for slant transfers with its wider area coverage.
